The Jolly Christmas Postman - 8.12.17

In English we have been reading The Jolly Christmas Postman. We created actions to help us remember the order of the characters that The Jolly Postman delivered post to. We wrote our own letters to Little Red Riding Hood or Baby Bear. In our letters we challenged ourselves to include different types of sentences (statements, questions, exclamations and commands).

This week in Maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.
GG – 2D shapes are flat and 3D shapes are solid.

Ellis – the mathematical word for corners is vertices. A cube has 8 verticies.

Harry – We found lines of symmetry. Only 2D shapes have lines of symmetry.

Jake – Symmetry means that both sides have to be exactly the same.

We carried out a very exciting science investigation all about chocolate. We learnt that solids can change into liquid.

Sam – We held a piece of chocolate in our hand as Miss Forrester read a poem about chocolate. When the poem had finished, we opened our hand and the chocolate had melted.

Myles – the warmth of our hands melted the chocolate. Some people had warmer hands so theirs melted more.

Rio – my hands were cold so the chocolate didn’t melt but it did go softer

Next week we are going to be rehearsing for our Christmas sharing assembly. Home learning this week is to continue to practise your lines at home.
William is our Star of the Week for always smiling. Well done to Harry who is spending the weekend with Night for challenging himself with his learning.

  1. I enjoyed finding lines of symmetry in maths. In Einglish I liked writing about the Jolly Christmas Postman.
